Golf is at its best in the fine weather, something that UK summers don't always offer! Here in Kent we are blessed with a great climate for golf, always sunny, it never rains ... or maybe that is the Shire of Kent in Australia?
OK, joking apart, Kent is in fact one of the warmest counties of Britain with an average of around 200 hours of sunshine each month during the summer (Ashford). Average summer temperatures are in the high teens and the hottest temperature recorded in the UK was at Faversham, Kent, at 38.5C in 2003 (BBC - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/5193970.stm). It is a fairly dry county (precipitation that is, not alcohol!), with monthly averages even during the winter just 2-4 inches. This summary is based on the met office 1971 to 2000 stats from their Wye weather station in central Kent.
