The great thing about this wonderful game of golf is sometimes it can only be the smallest detail in your address position or swing that can make huge changes to the way you can hit a golf ball and therefore BETTER SCORES! So here are some great golf tips from Iain that can help you to improve various elements of your game.

Getting Out of the Bunker
I cannot tell you how often I see amateurs take more than two shots to get out of a greenside bunker, and the biggest reason for this is decelerating on your downswing before impact. This could lead to one of two problems.
1. Bending your arms therefore distorting the triangle you formed at address which will cause direct contact with the ball which will most likely then fly over the green, or
2. Altering your ‘spinal angle' causing you to hit further behind the ball than needs be which will lead to the ball staying in the bunker.

Controlling your distance out of bunkers
Here is part two of mastering your bunker shots, here are a few simple pointers on how to achieve better distance control.
1. On longer bunker shots, take more club (PW instead of SW) and make a smooth shallow swing in relation to the ground, making sure your wrists are kept quite rigid. This will help you to sweep the ball out of the sand and reduce the spin.
2. For shorter shots which require more spin, open your club face and stance and make an aggressive steeper swing. The trick is to cock your wrists on your backswing, at impact imagine your right hand is the clubface, if you require more height feel your palm facing the sky as you strike the sand. The ball will fly out higher and with more spin.
TRY THIS ONE!! Next time you are practising your bunker shots or even when playing on the course, play a bunker shot as if you are playing a 30 yard pitch shot. Same principle, just hit the sand 1-2 inches before the ball, accelerate thru the shot!
